Horticultural therapy is offered in both small group and individual therapy sessions.  Session planning is guided by and responsive to the needs of the client(s). HTI has expertise in working with many vulnerable and marginalised groups.

We work with individuals of all ages and abilities who are experiencing life challenges, stress and anxiety.

Custom made HTI activity boxes

Based on consultations with clients, we design and ship customised activity boxes, which have a horticultural therapy focus. Clients and customers can order these on their own behalf or for others, either as a therapeutic aid or a gift.

Why horticultural therapy is important

Our ability to take a breath, a moment, to nourish ourselves is vital is today’s fast paced world.  Many of us experience days filled with busy schedules, routines and obligations.  Many more have limited access to fulfilling engagements and other people.  Horticultural therapy provides time to root ourselves, connect with nature, experience the cycle of life in a safe, non-judgemental and non-threatening way.  There are a host of proven benefits to being outside, having our hands in the soil, experiencing the natural world first hand and nurturing plants from seed to flourish.

Supporting living things,  recognising their needs and our own individual needs supports us in reflecting on what we need to recharge, develop and tend to our own wellbeing.  HTI activities can provide perspective, confidence, hope and a real sense of achievement.  When supported and guided by a qualified and experienced HTI therapist the benefits are manifold.
